Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long are consultations?
A: Consultations last 50-55 minutes. Completing a thorough assessment of presenting concerns typically takes approximately two sessions, after which feedback can be shared and goals and strategies discussed.
Q: Do I need a referral from a GP or specialist to see a psychologist?
A: No, a medical referral is not required to access an appointment. However, you may be eligible for a GP Mental Health Care Plan which allows for substantial rebates. It may be wise to consult your GP first to see if you’re eligible and discuss your options.
Q: How many sessions do I need to attend?
A: As everyone’s situation is different, there’s no set recommendation on how many sessions to attend. Usually it takes at least two sessions to make a thorough assessment of the presenting issues and to discuss therapy goals. Annabel is client-centred, meaning she works with the client to address their needs and to find an approach that will work for them.
Q: What if I need to cancel an appointment?
A: Please contact the office directly on (03) 9069 3206 if you need to cancel an appointment. A cancellation fee of $100 will be charged if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice. The full consultation fee will be charged if you cancel on the day of your appointment, or do not attend.
